Woo hoo it's Saturday!

Hey everyone! It is a beautiful morning and spring is definitely in the air. My fur is all fluffed up and I'm really praying that I get to go somewhere to run around today. This last week was a very busy week. I had a full week of napping, walking and sniffing around the back yard. All of the new spring smells are in and it took me a while to get them all down. I spent a fair amount of time barking at the lousy golfers (they are the only ones who ever come near our fence because they are searching for their lost ball).

I had some other barking to take care of too. Our neighbors, let's call them the "Louds" have begun their annual post-winter playtime migration from inside the house to the backyard for outdoor fun. Well, just like the geese around here, they are one really noisy bunch. I hear Mom & Dad discussing the "Louds" and their loudness quite often. I'm not sure why they call them the "Louds"? I don't think that is their real name. Oh well, whatever.

My big brother Remsen is doing well. I would like to report that he stole a pizzle from me yesterday. I am typically the one who steals treats around here, so I'm not sure what's up. Perhaps he's had enough of my bad manners and decided to play hardball with me.  Katrina, my feline sibiling is fine too.  She's just not that into me.

My mom was in Colorado earlier this week for a meeting. She told me that the hotel where she stayed, The Westin Westminster, has a dog that lives there at the hotel. His name is "Westie" and he is an English Lab (Chocolate flavor). She said he was really cute and the hotel guests can request to pet him anytime.  In an amazing coincidence, at the same hotel where her meeting was held, my mom told me about Krista, a woman who works at her company, who trains guide dog puppies. Krista brings her trainee with her to work and she even brought her to the meeting. Mommy and Krista happened to be seated at the same table.  That's where she met "Ibson", Krista's super-sweet white lab puppy in training. Ibson was apparently really well-behaved (way to go Ibson, raise the bar for all of us now!!).

I applaud what Krista is doing and if you want to donate to the organization, here's the link:  http://www.guidedogs.com/site/PageServer?pagename=help_donate

Ibson!

Oh, and below is a picture of me doing what I do practically every Saturday and Sunday morning.  Check my previous posts...you'll see almost identical pictures.  This one was taken about an hour ago...new day, new picture, still content.

Me today!

That's all for now.  Namaste y'all.

Sunday morning chat...

Greetings my loyal followers! It seems like Sunday is my day for blogging. I guess when my people decide to get me a laptop I'll be able to blog more frequently. Somehow, I don't think this is going to happen anytime soon. Here's the update for the week:

- I had my toenails trimmed yesterday at the vet. Rating: Sucks
- Had a walk with my mom & brother Remsen after the vet. Rating: Love it
- Visited my sister Katrina (she's a cat). Rating: Frightening

That's all for now. I'm going for a snooze and will dream of treats, walks, unicorns and an evil Hello Kitty.

Spring is in the air!

Kyle here...I know it's been a long while since I've posted anything, so please accept my apologies for depriving you of all of the silly details of my new life. When one is depressed or distraught, one tends to journal more often. This is really unfair to the readers because they tend to be neglected in good times. For this, I am sorry.

To be honest, I've been having so much fun in my new life I can hardly believe that less than a year ago, I was sitting in a shelter wondering if anyone would ever love me. Just like Precious (from the movie of the same name) I was not too keen on the idea that anyone would ever really love me. But, just as Precious found people who cared for her and loved her, so did I. So, all my bothers and sisters in shelters and rescues; please have faith that there are good people out there who can help you find a way out (like Cathy Stanley at www.campcocker.com).

Here's an update on my incredible new life:

First, my coat is curly, shiny and healthy. My skin problems are almost 100% cleared up and I am a big, soft, furry brown mop. Everyone goes crazy over my wavy fur, especially my ears. I think I might have mentioned this before, but my ears are just gorgeous!

I'm feeling great and living the good life. My people are awesome, as is my brother Remsen. And, guess what? I finally got to meet my sister, Katrina. She is a cat. She has her own room and it has a gate in front of the door. I guess to keep the riff raff out. Anyhow, I used to try to talk to her all the time, putting my head under the gate and barking whenever my people went in to feed and love her. Finally, my mommy brought me in there with her and I got to sniff all over. I've been in there many times now and even though the cat growls at me, I think she is starting to like me. I still get a little excited when I see her. Sometimes I poke my nose in her bathroom and the litter gets all over it (super gross!). But, I don't chase her and I would never attempt to hurt her because, for one, she's really cute and two, I know she'd kick my furry little butt if I tried. I'm hoping that someday she'll join us in the main part of the house.

My people now say that every day I get a little bit more lovable and my fear and anger seem to be going away. I love my new life and the cast of characters I call my family now.

xxoo to everyone who helped me along the way!
